Song of the Day #178

I'm REALLY getting into this song as of late. Love it.

Story of the Year- "Just Close Your Eyes" (Christian's Theme) from WWE The Music Volume 10: A New Day

"Hearts uninspired, trapped inside somebody's dream.
To close to the fire, Yet cold and so numb with the pain.
But the fever is broken, and the river has run to the sea.
Washed to the ocean and saved by a voice inside me.

Inside of me a light was turned on, Then I was alive.

If you close your eyes. Your life a naked truth revealed,
Dreams you never lived and scars never healed
(Scars never healed)
In the darkness life will take you to the other side,
And find me waiting there you'll see if you just close your eyes.
(If You just close your eyes. If You just close your eyes)"

Song of the Day #177

Two Simple Plan songs in a row? What has my world come to? Haha. Getting into the first half of their newest album. Good stuff.

Simple Plan- "Loser of the Year" from Get Your Heart On!

"So why do I feel like it’s all just a show?

You make me wanna shut it all down,
Throw it all away,
Cause I’m nothing if I don’t have you.

What’s the point of being on top,
All the money in the world,
If I can’t blow it all on on you.

So, send the cars back,
Put the house on the market,
And my big dreams too.

Because it’s all so clear,
Now without you here,
I’m the loser of the year."

Song of the Day #176

Simple Plan- "Astronaut" from Get Your Heart On!

"Can anybody hear me?
Or am I talking to myself?
My mind is running empty
In the search for someone else
Who doesn't look right through me.
It's all just static in my head
Can anybody tell me why I'm lonely like a satellite?

'Cause tonight I'm feeling like an astronaut
Sending SOS from this tiny box
And I lost all signal when I lifted up
Now I'm stuck out here and the world forgot
Can I please come down? (come down)
'Cause I'm tired of drifting around and round (and round)
Can I please come down?

I'm deafened by the silence
Is it something that I've done?
I know that there are millions
I can't be the only one who's so disconnected
It's so different in my head.

Now I lie awake and scream in a zero gravity
And it's starting to weigh down on me.
Let's abort this mission now
Can I please come down?

So tonight I'm calling all astronauts
All the lonely people that the world forgot
If you hear my voice come pick me up
Are you out there?
'Cause you're all I've got!

And tonight I'm feeling like an astronaut
Sending SOS from this tiny box
And I lost all signal when I lifted up
Now I'm stuck out here and the world forgot

'Cause tonight I'm feeling like an astronaut
Sending SOS from this tiny box
To the lonely people that the world forgot
Are you out there?
'Cause you're all I've got!

Can I please come down?
'Cause I'm tired of drifting round and round.
Can I please come down? [x3]"

Song of the Day #175

Childish Gambino- "Heartbeat" from  Camp

"[Hook x2]
I wanted you to know
That I am ready to go, heartbeat
My heartbeat
I wanted you to know
Whenever you aren't around, can't speak
I can't speak

[Verse 1]
I know what your boy like
Skinny tie and a cuff tight
He go and make breakfast
You walk around naked
I might just text you
Turn your phone over, when it's all over
No settling down, my text go to your screen
You know better than that
I come around when you least expect me
I'm sitting at the bar when your glass is empty
You thinking that the songs coming on to tempt me
I need to be alone like the way you left me
You start calling, you start crying
I come over, I'm inside you
I can't find you
The girl that I once had
But the sex that we have, isn't half bad
The text say that "It's not fair"
That's code for "He's not here"
And I'mma flirt with this new girl
And I'mma call if it don't work
So we fuck, till we come, to conclusions
All the things that we thought we were losing
I'm a ghost and you know this
That's why we broke up in the first place
Cause

[Hook x2]

[Verse 2]
It's late night Thursday
I know that you heard me
But you don't want the same thing
Well two can play that game
So I'm chilling with my girlfriend
But she not my real girlfriend
She got a key to my place but
She's not my real girlfriend
Stupid, so dummy
Say the wrong thing and wrong girls come runnin'
I'm paranoid that these girls want something from me
And it's hard to make a dime go one hundred
And my dude freakin' out over a worse fate
She on time, but she late for they first date
Cause he went and tried out all new condoms
Slipped off in a threesome, good problems?
Right? Wrong
Askin' him if she gonna play games
With the super smash brothers, but none of them you
I miss the sex when you kiss whenever you through
Sixty-nine is the only dinner for two
I was wrong, but would you have listened to you?
Uh, you were crazy
I got a heart, but the artichoke
Is the only thing girls want when you in that smokin' light

[Hook x2]

[Verse 3]
So we're done? This the real shit?
We used to hold hands like field trips
I'm a jerk, but your dude is a real dick
I read his posts on your wall and I feel sick
He ain't cool, he ball and all that
But he just a fake nigga who blog in all caps
You couldn't wait to date
I'm going straight for your thighs like the cake you ate
I give a fuck about the niggas that you say you hate
You know that I’m the best when I’m a-ffection-ate
I'm the best that you had, face it
J and Keyshia are related, racist
I give you money, then you burn it, like you made off
She ain't a killer, but she'd fucking blow your head off
I know he wondering, "What the fuck you hiding?"
That we dated like raps about Bin Laden
Ayo, fuck this
Are we dating? Are we fucking?
Are we best friends? Are we something in between that?
I wish we never fucked, and I mean that

But not really, you say the nastiest shit in bed and it’s fuckin’ awesome"

Song of the Day #174

Lupe Fiasco feat. Jill Scott- "Daydreamin'" from Food & Liquor

"Daydream
I fell asleep beneath the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day

[Lupe Fiasco]
As I spy from behind my giant robot's eyes
I keep him happy 'cause I might fall out if he cries
Scared of heights so I might pass out if he flies
Keep him on autopilot 'cause I can't drive
Room enough for one I tell my homies they can't ride
Unless they sittin on the shoulders but that's way too high
Let's try not to step on the children
The news cameras filmin
This walkin project buildin
Now there's hoes sellin hoes like right around the toes
And the crackheads beg at about the lower leg
There's crooked police that's stationed at the knees
And they do drive-bys like up and down the thighs
And there's a car chase goin on at the waist
Keep a vest on my chest
I'm sittin in my room as I'm lookin out the face
Somethin to write about
I still got some damage from fightin the whitehouse, just a

Daydream
I fell asleep beneath the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day

[Lupe Fiasco]
Now come on everybody, let's make cocaine cool
We need a few more half naked women up in the pool
And hold this MAC-10 that's all covered in jewels
And can you please put your titties closer to the 22s?
And where's the champagne? We need champagne
Now look as hard as you can with this blunt in your hand
And now hold up your chain slow motion through the flames
Now cue the smoke machines and the simulated rain
But not too loud 'cause the baby's sleepin
I wonder if it knows what the world is keepin
Up both sleeves while he lay there dreamin
Me and my robot tip-toe 'round creepin
I had to turn my back on what got you paid
I couldn't see half the hood on me like Abu Ghraib
But I'd like to thank the streets that drove me crazy
And all the televisions out there that raised me, I was

Daydream
I fell asleep beneath the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day

Daydream
I fell asleep beneath the flowers
For a couple of hours
On a beautiful day
Daydream
I dream of you amid the flowers
For a couple of hours
Such a beautiful day"

Song of the Day #173

Dessa- "Matches to Paper Dolls" from A Badly Broken Code

"I changed the locks
But your key, your key's still working
You can't train a moth, I guess
Uh, each beast gets her burden
So we circle this old flame
Too much at stake but too late to change
My nerves are shot, my reserves exhausted
It's a tired plot but we bought it
Now we're lost
Between love and cholera
Saccharine read, such a sentimental novel
Give you cavities if it doesn't drive you to the bottle
As for me, I'll take another kerosene if you got it
Something harder, look, like a moth you see
And I still get chills when you talk to me
But the years pass by now in twos and threes
These thrills ain't as cheap as they used to be

If you're asking
I can't say no
Just one more chapter
Our book won't close
And I know it's madness
To play these odds
It's like giving matches
To paper, to paper dolls

(I know it's madness, I know
I know it's madness, I know
I know it's mad)

Uh, tried sweet talk, tried dynamite
But I sleepwalk back to the battle site
Fight fire with fire but the fire won't fight
We just fly these circles like tired kites
And you flash some fang
And I bat my lashes
And we're back again
No end to this game with matches
We've been lovers and strangers and friends who get angry
Made mistakes and amends and brief moments of magic
We forgive and forget and give in to attraction
This whole thing depends on amnesia and madness
And I'd be leaving for good, I'd be looking for better
But I got this broken habit I keep gluing back together
The fever, the fire, the feathers
The fever defies measure
And good sense won't venture where the moth will go

If you're asking
I can't say no
Just one more chapter
Our book won't close
And I know it's madness
To play these odds
It's like giving matches
To paper, to paper dolls

(Just like, just like...
Just like, just like...
Just like giving matches to paper dolls
Just like, just like...
Just like, just like...
Just like giving matches to paper dolls)

If you're asking
I can't say no
Just one more chapter
Our book won't close
And I know it's madness
To play these odds
It's like giving matches
To paper, to paper dolls"

The Dark Knight Rises [A Fat Jesus Movie Review]

This is easily one of the biggest releases in quite awhile, and probably the most anticipated release that will come out of the 2012 film season. Over the past couple of days I've gone back, re-watched, and reviews both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Easily two of my favorite superhero movies and hell two of my down right favorite movies of all time. But last night was the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises. Me, mom and two of my best friends were there to witness some of the first showings of the end of an era so to speak. Sorry for borrowing that WWE, you came up with a catchy tag-line. And I do not think this movie disappoints.

We open the final chapter with the end of  The Dark Knight and Gordon (Oldman) giving the eulogy at Harvey Dent's funeral. Fast forward eight years. Bruce Wayne (Bale) is throwing a party in honor of Dent's death. The Dent Act has effectively eradicated organized crime in Gotham City keeping criminals off the street with no chance of parole. [Now] Commissioner Gordon is slated to give a speech and was going to tell the truth about what really happened the night Dent died but decided not to. Inside Wayne Manor itself Alfred (Caine) tells one of the waitresses (Hathaway) to take a plate of food to Bruce who has secluded himself in a wing of the house. Instead of just leaving the platter and exiting, she decides to snoop around. She starts examining a bulls eye and Wanye shoots an arrow at it. Bruce is revealed to be walking with a cane now. He exclaims that the pearl necklace she is wearing looks exactly like his mothers that he kept in an uncrackable safe. The woman smiles, kicks the cane from under Bruce and with cat-like reflexes jumps out the window. Meanwhile, while all this is going down, on the other side of the world, three men are captured and put on a private plane. The kidnapper starts interrogating them one by one, until he has the misfortune of uncovering Bane (Hardy) as one of the prisoners. Bane and his crew wreak havoc on the plane and kidnap the scientist they need. Then they down the plane. Fast forward again, not too far, and Officer John Blake (Gordon-Levitt) comes to Gordon informing him that a senator has gone missing. During the search Gordon stumbles upon Bane's hideout. Bane questions him, takes the confession of what really happened to Harvey Dent and as Gordon is escaping, he gets shot. Now with motive and cunning behind him, Bane is aiming to destroy Gotham City from the inside. Batman has to restore the Wayne name, learn about his true self and save the city of Gotham from perhaps its final threat. The Batman must rise to conquer some of his biggest obstacles, both psychically and emotionally. The Dark Knight must save Gotham one last time.

Let me start off by saying, this is a movie. If you're a comic book fan going to see it you can't possibly get everything right, use everything and include every detail. That being said the end to this trilogy, without spoiling, is very good and satisfying. The story was grand and I can't think of one like this happening in a movie before. It kept me intrigued and questioning things till the end. There was suspense, heroics and twists that all worked well. The dialogue was written well, as in the other two, mixing humor, seriousness and emotion. This leads me to the acting. Superb as with the other two. Bale, Freeman, Oldman and Caine all reprise and rise to the occasion yet again. Hardy brutally plays Bane to perfection (not quite as grand as Ledger, but we'll not get into that). Gordon-Levitt, Hathaway, Cotillard, all also being the new, all played their parts well and I really liked Hathaway's portrayal of Catwoman. Not many non-Disney movies spark emotion in me, so saying that this is one of them, is a big deal for. There are a couple parts that leave you for lack of a batter term, in shock. But there are also parts that have you cheering or laughing. Nolan has found the perfect mix and has turned the superhero genre into something that can be taken seriously now with this trilogy.

There was a lot less hand to hand combat in this movie. But when it was there it was focused on one-on-one and it looked great. Batman looks smooth and strong, Catwoman parts are quick and punishing and Bane completely out muscles everything in sight. Also this is the first movie I'm not seeing anything directly relating to the Batman games or vice-versa. Maybe it's cause this came out after both games, but there wasn't anything I noticed regardless. Gadget and tech-wise, this was awesome because of The Bat, enough said. But oh man, did I love the characters in this. Even beyond Batman, Alfred and the returning crew. Catwoman is always a crowd pleaser, including myself. Bane is very underrated as a villain and this movie made him look good! There is a mention of someone that got a nice laugh out of me, a return of a couple on-screen characters, and a couple nice twist-characters. One that I'm kicking myself for not noticing before it happened in the movie. But I loved, and at times geeked out at, everything character related in this film. For the third film in a row Nolan maintained the essence of the originals returning and seamlessly added in the new as if they were around since the first movie.

That is my ticket stub from the midnight showing. I've been to quite a few now, but this is up there as one of the best. Along with The Hangover and The Avengers. The theater I went to had it showing on like seven screens. People were a buzz, hell a dude in a full on Batman suit came in and my friend got a picture with him. As the movie started people clapped and as the credits starting rolling a roar erupted in the theater. The only other movie that got a roar for me EVER was The Avengers. I love Batman and I was right there with them clapping cause I truly enjoyed this movie.

On a basic level the story was great, the music never detracted, the acting was superb, the action was good, and while two and a half hours long the movie never dragged or was boring to me. On a deeper level this is the end of a Batman film era. There was emotion in the movie, there was a sense of urgency I'd never felt from a story before, and it had me reeled me in until the final reel. While I don't think this was on The Dark Knight's level this was a damn great flick. More comparable to Batman Begins for me. Like being compared to that is a bad thing. This is a great movie, this is a great end to the Nolan trilogy, and The Dark Knight truly rises to glory in this film.

The Dark Knight [A Fat Jesus Movie Review]

If you read my Batman Begins blog post, here, you know that I already love the two movies in the Nolan series. And compared to the original movies....well there is no comparison, the first one alone blows them out of the water. The Dark Knight is no exception to the love. This movie is nothing short of astounding and for now should be in the class of greatest superhero movies of all time.

We open this sequel with The Joker (Ledger) robbing a bank in Gotham City. He kills all of his accomplices and gets away with a ton of loot. We cut to Batman (Bale) and now Lieutenant Gordon (Oldman) discussing the inclusion of the new district attorney, Harvey Dent (Eckhart), in their plans to help Gotham City. Bruce decides to throw a party to endorse Dent to gain favor in the people's eyes and help campaign funds. Dent is dating a familiar face in Rachel Dawes (Gyllenhaal), Bruce's childhood friend. Meanwhile mob bosses are having a meeting and are informed that businessman from China, Lau, has taken all the money as precautionary measure to keep Gotham from taking it. The Joker crashes the party and says that there is no place Batman can't go and the only real way to get things back on track, so to speak, in Gotham is to kill the Batman. The mob bosses laugh at him as he says he'll kill Batman for half of what was taken and one of the mob leaders put a hit on him. Fast forward and The Joker is brought to said mob boss, presumed dead, but is playing possum. He kills the leader and assumes control of all the organization. He informs the people of Gotham, through a video tape of him torturing a man, that he will start killing people everyday until Batman reveals his identity. Batman has overcome this new threat to Gotham in The Joker, while managing to keep his identity unknown and protecting the people from dying. But to do this he must become the watchful protector, the silent guardian, the Dark Knight.

This movie is damn near perfect in my eyes. I could single out Heath Ledger playing The Joker perfectly or Bale as Batman, or Oldman as Gordon or anyone who acted in this film. They all did a phenomenal job. Heath made me crack up at times, Bale is still this unnerving presence, Oldman commands the screen whe he's on. Same with people like Caine and Freeman. You can do no wrong. Then there a flip side adding people like Eckhart and Gyllenhall in. While not commanding the screen they brought much needed emotion to the film. Not saying no one else did, but there are a few very "tear-jerky" scenes in this superhero movie. The story is amazing from start to finish and once again this well over two hour movie never drags or feels long. The dialogue is both humorous and heart wrenching and the monologue by Gordon to close was just awesome. Like in Begins there is funny parts, the obvious serious parts, and a range of happiness to terror throughout. You could not keep the better part of a full ensemble add a few people in a do a better job than this. Though I do hope Rises aspires to this level.

Once again these fight scenes are fantastic in this movie. I seem to be starting this fourth paragraph with that fact, but it is. They are still brutal and they still show-off Batman in hand to hand combat well. Yet again I'm wondering if this series inspired Batman Arkham Asylum/City. Cause when Batman starts using the sonar scanner in the hostage building it feels A LOT like Detective Mode in the games. Either way I love all the new gadgets, suits, and vehicles. Also again the huge chase scenes aren't over done. There are explosions, and flipping cars and trucks, etc, some maybe unnecessary, but you can't blame The Joker for having a flair for the dramatic. Some men just want to watch the world burn. See what I did there? Once again Nolan does a great job of incorporating the Batman universe into this. he brought back the important people (Batman, Alfred, Fox, etc), there were cameos from the first movie (most notably Scarecrow) and added in the new SO well (The Joker and Harvey Dent). Everything melded well and you would think this full cast had done a full movie like this before. I love it.

In all honesty this has been the first one-two punch of a trilogy that I truly enjoyed both movies out of. I really liked Spider-Man 1/2 as well as SAW 1/2X-Men 1/2 were pretty solid as well. But none to this scale for me. These are two movies that are great. This movie alone is great. These are superhero movies that don't FEEL like superhero movies. I love that because the genre is so watered down. I'm happy that there are still people, like Nolan, who just want to make good films. The Dark Knight is one of those films.

Batman Begins [A Fat Jesus Movie Review]

So I'm obviously going to see The Dark Knight Rises. And yes I'm going to see it at midnight Thursday night.(It still is a Thursday night showing despite the movie itself starting on Friday. AND despite what Micheal Ryne would argue with you about). Moving along, haha, I figured this would be a nice time to catch up on the Nolan trilogy. Considering I haven't seen either movie (Begins/The Dark Knight) in well over two years, this is the perfect time. Batman is easily one of the most recognizable superheroes to date. But his movies never really got a good rap until these Christopher Nolan ones. Batman grew up and got serious. No more is there a movie full of Arnold Schwarzenegger doing Mr. Freeze puns or Jim Carrey laughing TOO maniacally as The Riddler. Now we have a movie where Michael Caine is a bad-ass Alfred and Gary Oldman is the intimidating Lieutenant Gordon.

Batman Begins begins with Bruce Wayne (Bale) and Rachel Dawes (Holmes), as children, playing together in the back yard of Wayne Manor. Rachel finds an arrowhead and Bruce takes it and runs off. While running away he falls into an abandoned well and a swarm of bats fly past him, causing a phobia to develop. One night as Bruce, his father and mother are at the opera, Bruce get's scared of the bats portrayed on stage and they must leave. Walking though the alleyway outside of the opera house they are confronted by a mugger. Even with full compliance the mugger shoots and kills both of Bruce's parents and runs off. Skipping forward a few years, Bruce is now a young man. There is a parole hearing for the man who killed his parents and it's presumed that he will walk after giving up information about Carmine Falconie (Wilkinson). After the hearing Bruce fully intends to kill the man who killed his parents but one of Falconie's assassins gets there first. Bruce decides to leave Gotham (for seven years) to learn about the criminal underworld and hopefully learn ways to stop it. He ends up in a Bhutanese prison and is approached by Ducard (Neeson), who offers him training at The League of Shadows led by Ra's Al Ghul (Watanabe). Bruce completes his training, learns of The League's true intentions, destroys the headquarters, kills Ra's, saves Ducard and calls Alfred (Caine). On the plane ride back to Gotham, he informs Alfred that he's coming back to save Gotham from the criminal and the corrupt. To become a symbol for the people. The eventual Dark Knight. Batman.

We have to start with the acting. Christian Bale plays Bruce/Batman phenomenally. Just get past him going on a tirade on set over essentially nothing. There is emotion, seriousness, humor (when needed) and a general sense that he wanted this reboot to go well. Where there was hardly any discernible (good) acting in the earlier movies, everyone here wanted this to do well. It also helps that this was written WELL. When you give actors gold like this (Gold Jerry, GOLD), it's hard for anyone to mess up. Much less greats like Oldman, Neeson, Caine and Freeman. Props to Nolan for getting this great ensemble cast. Leading me to the point that this screenplay is awesome. The dialogue is real and the origin story is great. I'm sure everyone knows the tale of Bruce's parents being killed and having to grow up with Alfred. Full of vengeance and confusion. But this adds to it, it adds true emotion and really makes you feel sympathetic towards Bruce as a kid and even growing up. Also we really got to see the transformation of Bruce into Batman (training and suit/gadget assembly-wise) as well which really appealed to me. The music is grandiose. As it should be for a reboot and a story a big as this one. Nothing felt out of place and never detracted any scene.

I loved the fight scenes in this movie. Especially the one at the docs and the one inside of Arkham Asylum. They were done beautifully. And I'm now wondering if the people that made Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, drew inspiration from these scenes for some of the combat and level design in the games. The fights looked good and looked brutal. Even still without Batman killing a single thug. The chase scenes are pretty damn cool too. Batman driving essentially a tank anywhere and everywhere in Gotham and even the train scene (complete with fight on board) was awesome. Thank God Michael Bay didn't do these scenes. The inner comic book nerd loved this movie too. Besides the new Batman suit and badassery. The inclusion of criminals like Zasaz and the story-line revolving around Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) and Ra's al Ghul was awesome to me. That you didn't need the big name villains like Penguin, Freeze or Riddler to have a great Batman story. To have such a big pool of villains to choose from, I'm glad Nolan started with a very underrated one (Scarecrow) and one of my personal favorites.

All in all this is how a reboot should work. No dragging scenes, a great story, awesome acting, amazing fight scenes and visuals, and an ending leaving the viewer wanting more. Batman is a deep character, more so than I think a lot of superheroes. He's much more relate-able to people I think as well. So I'm glad Nolan started this off on a more serious note. This is this NEW Gotham City and this truly is Batman!

Lupe Fiasco- "The Show Goes On" from L.A.S.E.R.S

"Alright, already the show goes on
all night, till the morning we dream so long
anybody ever wonder, when they would see the sun up
just remember when you come up
the show goes on!

Have you ever had the feeling that you was being had
Don’t that shit that make you mad
They treat you like a slave, with chains all on your soul,
and put whips up on your back,
they be lying through they teeth
hope you slip up off your path
I don’t switch up I just laugh
put my kicks up on they desk
unaffected by they threats than get busy on they ass
see that’s how that Chi-Town made me
That’s how my daddy raised me
that glittering may not be gold, don’t let no body play me
if you are my homeboy, you never have to pay me
Go on and put your hands up, when times are hard you stand up
L-U-P the man, cause a brand that the fans trust
so even if they ban us they’ll never slow my plans up!

Alright, already the show goes on
all night, till the morning we dream so long
anybody ever wonder, when they would see the sun up
just remember when you come up
the show goes on!

One in the air for the people that ain’t here
Two in the air for the father that’s there
Three in the air for the kids in the ghetto
Four for the kids who don’t wanna be there
None for the niggas trying to hold them back
Five in the air for the teacher not scared to tell those kids thats living in the ghetto that the niggas holdin back that the World is theirs!
Yeah yeah, the World is yours, I was once that little boy
Terrified of the World
Now I’m on a World tour
I will give up everything, even start a world war
for these ghettos girls and boys im rapping round’ the World for!
Africa to New York, Haiti then I detour, Oakland out to Auckland
Gaza Strip to Detroit, say hip-hop only destroy
tell em’ look at me, boy!
I hope your son don’t have a gun and never be a D-boy

Alright, already the show goes on
all night, till the morning we dream so long
anybody ever wonder, when they would see the sun up
just remember when you come up
the show goes on!

So no matter what you been through
no matter what you into
no matter what you see when you look outside your window
brown grass or green grass
picket fence or barbed wire
Never ever put them down
you just lift your arms higher
raise em till’ your arms tired
Let em’ know you’re there
That you struggling and survivin’ that you gonna persevere
Yeah, ain’t no body leavin, no body goin’ home
even if they turn the lights out the show is goin’ on!

Alright, already the show goes on
all night, till the morning we dream so long
anybody ever wonder, when they would see the sun up
just remember when you come up
the show goes on!"

Song of the Day #170

Kanye West feat. Dwele- "Flashing Lights" from Graduation

"I know it's been a while,
Sweetheart, we hard-ly talk, I was doing my thing
I know I was foul bay-bay,
a-bay late-ly you been all on my brain,
And if somebody would've told me a month ago
Fronting though, yo I wouldn't wanna know
If somebody would've told me a year ago
it'd go, get this difficult
Feeling like Katrina with no fema
Like Martin with no Gina
Like a flight with no visa
First class with the seat back I still see ya
In my past, you on the other side of the glass
Of my memory's museum,
I'm just saying, Hey Mona Lisa,
come home you know you can't Rome without Caesar"

Song of the Day #169

Foo Fighters- "Stranger Things Have Happened" from Echoes, Silence, Patience, Grace

"Goddamn this dusty room
This hazy afternoon
I'm breathing in this silence like never before
This feeling that I get
This one last cigarette
As I lay awake and wait for you to come through that door
Oh maybe, maybe, maybe I can share it with you
I behave I behave I behave so I can share it with you

You are not alone dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
So stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know
I'm not alone dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
So stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know, oh oh, oh oh

And I dream about somewhere, a smoke will fill the air
As I lay awake and wait for you to walk out that door

I can change, I can change, I can change
But who you want me to be?
I'm the same, I'm the same, I'm the same, what do you want me to be?

You are not alone dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
So stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know oh oh, oh oh

I'm not alone dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
You're not alone dear loneliness
You forgot but I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know

I'm not alone dear loneliness
I forgot that I remember this
Oh stranger, stranger, stranger things have happened I know oh oh, oh oh, oh oh"

Fat Jesus' WWE Money in the Bank 2012 Predictions

Since removing Money in the Bank from Wrestlemania, it's been at this annual PPV of the same name. Two Money in the Bank matches are held, also both world titles are defended with under-card matches. Basically  what should be a better than most PPV. It used to be one Money in the Bank match for each brand. But now there is one for the WWE Championship and one for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Kofi Kingston and R-Truth (WWE Tag Team Champions) vs Hunico and Camacho in a Tag Team Match
For some reason WWE thinks these Pre-Show matches are good and get the viewers a home hyped up for the PPV. In reality these are just dark matches and even at they they usually don't get the crowd pumped at the area if that. Hunico and Camacho have no business being in a PPV or even Pre-PPV match. R-Truth and Kofi have better talent and presence. No reason for these two to lose.
Winners: Kofi Kingston and R-Truth

The Prime Time Players (Darren Young/Titus O'Neil) w/A.W. vs Epico and Primo w/Rosa Mendes in a tag team match
Filler match. PTP are the number one contenders. No reason they lose. But if they do no one cares still.
Winners: The Prime Time Players

Tyler Reks and Curt Hawkins vs Ryback in a Two on One Handicap match
No one cares and is it not obvious who is winning? Gotta love these filler matches.
Winner: Ryback

Layla (Divas Champion), Kaitlyn and Tamina Snuka vs Beth Phoenix, Natayla and Eve Torres in 6-Diva Tag Team match
No one cares about this filler match. Obviously the faces on the team with the champion will win. I love Layla. I also love Beth still though. Mmmmmm.
Winners: Layla, Kaitlyn and Tamina Snuka

Dolph Ziggler, Christian (Intercontinental Champion), Tensai, Santino (United Stated Champion), Damien Sandow, Tyson Kidd, Sin Cara and Cody Rhodes in the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank Match
This match has a ton of potential with people like Ziggler, Christian, Sin Cara and Rhodes. With the unknown factors of Kidd and Sandow in the mix this could steal this show. There's gonna be a lot of high flying. Some power spots probably involving Tensai. In the end though the only person I see winning or anywhere near the main event right now is Dolph Ziggler. Not only that but Dolph really does deserve it. Probably the best young talent on the roster right now.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler

The Big Show, Kane, The Miz, John Cena and Chris Jericho in the WWE Championship Money in the Bank Match
I'm going to start this by say that I DO NOT like that there are only four people in this match. Money in the Bank has always been a large ladder match where a least now-a-days, the young talent is allowed to shine, be exposed and work with the more experienced and higher up on the roster. This is a match that that only Chris Jericho needs to win. Cena and Big Show, as of late, are in the title picture whenever. I don't think Cena needs this, a "career boost", to get into the title picture. As much as I love Kane as of late, he doesn't need to go for the WWE Championship. Jericho is the best all round in this match and having never won his brainchild of a match, I think he deserves it.
Winner: Chris Jericho

Sheamus (World Heavyweight Champion) vs Alberto Del Rio in a Single Match for the World Heavyweight Championship
These two have really just brawled in the lead-up to this match. It's fine with me as Del Rio had to sit out of his first title shot at Sheamus after The Great Khali stupidly gave him a concussion leading into No Way Out. Both men work hard in the ring. Sheamus the brawler and Del Rio the technician. They mesh well enough and this should be a solid match they put on.
Winner (And Still World Heavyweight Champion): Sheamus

CM Punk (WWE Champion) vs Daniel Bryan in a No Disqualification Singles Match for the WWE Championship with special guest referee AJ
I still love this feud. They took Kane out of the match and picture and now it's my two favorite wrestlers on the roster and for well over a  year now my favorite Diva. The marriage proposal BS on Raw was for lack of a better term, terrible. But these are still the two guys (Punk and Bryan) that can put on a clinic in the ring. Throw in AJ and you've got a ton of outcome possibilities. As much as I wanted Daniel Bryan to win at No Way Out and as much as I want him to win now, I don't think it will happen. CM Punk will capitalize off of a mistake or AJ will help Punk win by either a fast count (I DON'T want that) or stopping Bryan from "cheating." Or vice-versa. Either way she's choosing one of them tonight.
Winner (And Still WWE Champion): CM Punk

Winners
Kofi Kingston and R-Truth
The Prime Time Players
Ryback
Layla, Kaitlyn and Tamina Snuka
Dolph Ziggler (WHC MitB)
Chris Jericho (WWEC MitB)
Sheamus (Retains)
CM Punk (Retains)

Pokemon Black and White Version [A Fat Jesus Video Game Review]

Pokemon has grown up. From it's humble beginnings with Red and Blue Versions on the Gameboy, the birth of Black and White Versions on the DS is grandiose. The first installment of Generation 5 feels like a bigger game. With over 150 new Pokemon, new gym leaders, new battle types, a new evil team of criminals, new Pokemon type-combinations and a brand new region to explore, the Pokemon Universe has expanded even more with these releases.

When you start up for the first time you are greeted by Professor Juniper. Who welcomes you to the world of Pokemon. Asks for your gender, name, and wishes you luck as your journey in the Unova region begins. The camera pull-in to your house with Pidoves or Woobat's flying away in the new starting town of Nuvema is a welcome addition. You're in your room waiting for your two best friends, Cheren and Bianca. Professor Juniper has gift wrapped your Pokemon. Cheren will always choose the strong type against you and Bianca the weaker. You have your first battles in your bed room before heading to meet Professor Juniper. Juniper then gives you a Pokedex and tells you that the Pokemon you're given are for going off onto a grand adventure in the Unova region to fill the Pokedex and explore the land. You take your first steps onto Route 1 with Bianca and Cheren and your adventure begins!

From the start this game already feels bigger, just from the pull in into your house in Nuvema. The Unvoa region has eight cities, not including the Elite Four and three more cities not available until after you beat the main story. Safe to say the map is huge. But it's not just a large map. The landscapes, cities and bridges can be massive. Based off of, believe it or not, New York City and surrounding areas. Also they have added in cut scenes throughout the game. This isn't the SS Anne undocking from Vermilion Port with an 8-bit puff of smoke. This is a dragon type Pokemon exploding onto the the screen in a huge blaze of glory. It really utilizes the power of a DS and makes the Pokemon world seem expanded compared to the rest of the generations. This is not a short game either. The story is more than just beat the bad team and defeat the Elite Four now. There is character development, dialogue and back story. There's nuances for almost every main person you meet, even gym leaders, the professor, and the kids' parents. Pokemon has always been a RPG, but this game has really felt like one like no other.

There is also a new "Team" on the block. This time it's Team Plasma. This team is different from the get-go. They are't hiding in the shadows. They are out and about talking to crowds and trying to recruit people to their cause. Pokemon liberation. They believe that Pokemon shouldn't be confirmed to Pokeballs and to battle. They believe they should be set free and live on their own. A noble idea at its core but as you play through it develops and evolves into a very nice over-arching story.

As I said before there is well over 150 new Pokemon. You can only catch Generation 5 Pokemon until you beat the main game. I love that. Let me catch the new and learn what they do. With every generation there is both good and bad. Both in type, design and actual usefulness. New types include anything from Rock and Flying/Fighting to Fire and Psychic/Ghost/Bug and Dragon and Fire/Electric/Ice. The battles are still turn based. Pokemon go, you want to win, you attack, they attack, win fight, gain experience, level up, evolve Pokemon. This is, and will always be the Pokemon mainstay. What can change is sprites and battle animations. The sprites move and even close their eyes if they are put to sleep. The battle animations for the moves are updated as well and look great. There are also new types of battles beyond one on one and double battles. There's the new Rotation battle in which three Pokemon are put onto a rotating battle field and every turn the Pokemon are shuffled around in a circular motion. The more common, and the one I prefer, is the triple battle. Where you send out three Pokemon and basically have double battle rules. The middle Pokemon can attack any of the three, but the one to the left and right may only attack the two closest to them. Takes strategy in Pokemon one step further, and I like it.

I've said this many a time, I love this game. It feels complete. The story is leagues above all the other games. While character development is almost non-existent in other games, this game gets me involved with their lives. It feels like a RPG finally. The graphics are updated and look great for a DS game and are a huge step forward from Gen 4 graphics. Same with the sound. There's also cut-scenes now for God's sake. There's an after story, characters from previous games, the Battle Subway, the Dream World, and a host of other things to after you beat the main story. Replaying it so close to the release of Pokemon Black and White 2 has me hyped to the release as well. It's Pokemon, it's huge and expansive, it's fresh and re-playable. It gave me a reason to want to catch them all again.
