Song(s) of the Day #40-43

Sorry I haven't posted since Christmas and might as well do one more post before the new year starts. Four songs I've heard and have been rattling around in my head this week. This has been a horrible year for me. I did shit, went through repercussions for what I did, didn't do well in school, learned to not expect the best anymore, lost my dad and feel alienated from everyone. On the flip-side I've met a ton of people streaming on Justin/Twitch TV and consider all of you great friends. 2011 will always have a silver-lining for that. Anywho aside from my year I hope ya'lls was good and got everything you wanted in life, religion, relationships, entertainment, and monetary things. I'm still rambling so I'll just give ya the songs. Happy New Year's Eve and Happy New Year everyone.

Jay-Z & Kanye West- "Murder To Excellence" from Watch the Throne

"[Intro: Jay-Z]
Bloody murder, murder, murder

[Hook: Kanye]
The paper read "murder, black-on-black murder"
The paper read "murder, black-on-black murder" again

[Verse 1: Jay-Z]
This is to the memory of Danroy Henry
Too much enemy fire to catch a friendly
Strays from the same shade nigga, we on the same team
Giving you respect, I expect the same thing
All-black everything, nigga you know my fresh code
I’m out here fighting for you, don’t increase my stressload!
Niggas watching the throne, very happy to be you
Power to the people, when you see me, see you

[Kanye]
And I’m from the murder capital where they murder for capital
Heard about at least three killings this afternoon
Looking at the news like "damn! I was just with him after school"
No shop class but half the school got a tool
And a "I could die any day"-type attitude
Plus his little brother got shot repping his avenue
It’s time for us to stop and redefine black power
41 souls murdered in fifty hours

[Hook]

[Verse 2: Kanye]
Is it genocide?
Cause I can still hear his mama cry
Know the family traumatized
Shots left holes in his face about piranha-sized
The old pastor closed the cold casket
And said the church ain’t got enough room for all the tombs
It’s a war going on outside we ain’t safe from
I feel the pain in my city wherever I go
314 soldiers died in Iraq, 509 died in Chicago

[Jay-Z]
I arrived on the day Fred Hampton died
Uh, real niggas just multiply
And they say by 21 I was supposed to die
So I’m out here celebrating my post-demise
If you put crabs in a barrel to insure your survival
You're gon' end up pulling down niggas that look just like you
What up, Blood? What up, cuz? It’s all black, I love us

[Hook]

[Interlude: Jay-Z]
It’s a celebration of black excellence, black tie, black Maybachs

[Verse 3: Jay-Z]
Black excellence, opulence, decadence
Tuxes next to the president, I’m present
I dress in Dries and other boutique stores in Paris
In sheepskin coats, I silence the lambs
Do you know who I am, Clarice?
No cheap cologne whenever I “shh-shh”
Success never smelled so sweet
I stink of success, the new black elite
They say my Black Card bears the mark of the beast
I repeat: my religion is the beat
My verse is like church, my Jesus piece
Now please, domino, domino
Only spot a few blacks the higher I go
What’s up to Will? Shout out to O
That ain’t enough.. we gonna need a million more
"Kick in the door" Biggie flow
I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go

[Verse 4: Kanye]
Yeah it’s all messed up when it’s nowhere to go
So we won’t take the time out 'til we reach the T-O-P
From parolees to hold G’s, sold keys, low keys
We like the promised land of the OG’s
In the past if you picture events like a black tie
What the last thing you expect to see, black guys?
What’s the life expectancy for black guys?
The system’s working effectively, that’s why!
I’ll be a real man and take care of your son
Every problem you had before this day is now done
New crib, watch a movie cause ain’t nothin on the news but the blues
Hit the mall, pick up some Gucci, now ain’t nothing new but your shoes
Sunday morning, praise the Lord
You're the girl that Jesus had been saving me for
So let’s savor this moment and take it to the floor
Black excellence, truly yours"

Gary Jules and Michael Andrews- "Mad World"

"All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world mad world"

The Black Keys- "Tighten Up" from Brothers

"Sick for days,
So many ways
I'm achin' now,
'M achin' now
It's times like these I need relief
Please show me how,
Oh show me how
To get right,
Yes outta sight"

Childish Gambino- "I'm On It" from Culdesac

"Yeah, I used to be broke, No Cash
And them niggas played games, Road Rash
Walking 'round NYU, looking for a dollar
Too proud to ask my friends or my struggling father
So I skate around the city for a couple hours
Dreaming up a day that I could say this world is ours
Now I got some, but I want it all
And I won't stop until Rihanna gives my ass a call
And I know that I'm addicted to this alcohol
Cause this shit hurts, call it the uncle curse
But I'm living for the moment, not the long haul
And I refuse to slow down until it's last call
Erica Keeps telling me to grow a conscience
And treat women like money, no object
But these hoes are a much different story
Straight laced chicks don't do nothing for me
I'm in a weird place, I got a little money
But money won't buy you time
If all the time is running from me
There's so much I wanna do
Like write a script or write a book
Get an hour on HBO, and date a girl who likes to cook
And stop having all of these crushes
On all of my friends girlfriends
I think I'm jealous they got someone when the world ends
It looks nice, I gotta get me one of those
I haven't found Mrs. Right
But I'm on it though
Yeah I'm on it though"

Song of the Day #39! [Christmas Week Song #7]

All that needs to be said is that this is Master Shake (with Meatwad and Frylock) from Aqua Teen Hunger Force brutally butchering the story of Jesus being born of Mary in Bethlehem. We get Voldemort, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, and Perplexo references and even a rap at the end. I love this track so much. So on this Christmas after you open presents, are told the real version of this story or whatever you do, be sure to listen to ATHF version as well. Merry Christmas everyone!

Aqua Teen Hunger Force- "Twas The Night Before Jesus" from Have Yourself A Meaty Little Christmas

"Happy Birthday Jesus, you the one
Comin' to earth from planet Krypton"

Song of the Day #38! [Christmas Week Song #6]

Been on my mind ever since I woke up today. I ended up picking up Frank Sinatra's version cause it sounds so damn good. His voice is so smooth, the words give hope to everyone, and most of all it's a song that always gives me chills. Not many songs do that to me, let alone holiday ones. This is easily my second favorite holiday song and on this Christmas Eve this couldn't be a better choice for me. Merry Christmas Eve everyone.

Frank Sinatra- "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"

Song(s) of the Day #37! [Christmas Week Songs #4/5]

O Holy Night is really one of my favorite traditional Christmas songs. Too bad this week the comedy songs have taken over my head haha. This is no different. A song we've all heard thirty times, but for me it never gets old. None of the Cartman-ized have disappointed me and this is no different. Cartman and any religious stuff mix well. Instead of being about the holiday season he makes it about the commercial aspects and himself. It's fantastic.

Eric Cartman- "O' Holy Night"

I'm putting two songs since one of these was supposed to be yesterdays song anyway. It's no stranger that I love The Lonely Island and this is as Christmas as they get. The lyrics still hold up to this day, they're hilarious, and even both (yes BOTH) Samberg and Timberlake sing quite well. The video is hilarious to boot. The ultimate raunchy Christmas song. I love it.

The Lonely Island feat. Justin Timberlake- "Dick in a Box" from Incredibad

Song of the Day #36.5 [Christmas Week Song #3]

As I was showering today I went though what I've called "the greatest Christmas album ever." Aqua Teen Hunger Force, now Aqua Unit Patrol Squad is one of those shows I adore. The stupidity,  fantasy and violent  comedy lines are amazing to me. This album gets Christmas completely wrong. And I ADORE it. The music is catchy as fuck and it never fails to make me lol during almost every song. In this song Meatwad and Master Shake sing "Jingle Bells" and for some reason it's just goddamn ridiculous.

Master Shake and Meatwad- "Jingle Bells Deep" from Have Yourself A Meaty Little Christmas

Song of the Day #36! [Christmas Week Song #2]

I first discovered Garfunkel and Oates after watching Scrubs. I didn't pay too much back in 2009 when Kate Micucci was on there, but in 2011 they released an album (All Over Your Face) which had a lot of hit and miss songs on it. My curiosity was peaked again when earlier this year I re-went through the Scrubs series and actually looked at some of their non-album songs/skits. This Christmas gem popped out at me. The music is nice (and Christmas-y) as with most of their songs, but the lyrics and actors they got to be in the video made this. The lyrics are so true and see stars you recognize like Samm Levine, Taran Killam, Colbe Smulders, and Kunal Nayyar agreeing with them and making those faces is hilarious to me.

Garfunkel and Oates- "Present Face"

Song of the Day #35! [Christmas Week Song #1]

Well I was gonna start this yesterday, but I never got to a Christmas song haha. AND what better way to start off the week than with hip-hop. Last year Kanye West released an exclusive track every Friday leading up till his release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and even a few tracks afterward. This is one of the songs he released a week before Christmas. A HOST of great rappers, solid lyrics and rapping by everyone, the chorus is sung quite well, the long song never drags for me and the beat is just awesome to me as well.

Kanye West feat. Cam'Ron, Jim Jones, Vado, CyHi Da Prynce, Pusha T, Musiq Soulchild, Teyana Taylor and Big Sean- "Christmas In Harlem" from Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Friday Giveaways

Song of the Day #34

No description. Popped on amidst my rap and hip-hop today and it stuck. I'm not a huge fan of all the lyrics, but they're good enough and the song overall is fine.

Simple Plan- "Loser of the Year" from Get Your Heart On!

Song of the Day #33

Not a good day for me. Feel alone even with tons of awesome people around me. But also in the end we're all only smoke and mirrors. Oh-ho-ho-hoooooo them lyrics to the song used in why it's the song of the day. We all lie, we all can't keep promises, we're all left alone in the end, we all can't be there for everyone and we all can't be happy. Cynical, yup, YOU FUCKIN' BET, but it's how I feel now-a-days. Do I hate myself for this? Again yup. Oh well, not like anyone cares. In before tl;dr or people talking, I don't care. How I feel today. Least the song is nice, upbeat and the theme song for WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes caught my ear watching WWE TLC tonight.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes' Theme- "Smoke and Mirrors"

Song of the Day #32

Who would've thought Christina Perri would be playing in a Pawn Shop at 11 AM. I heard "Jar of Hearts" and it's a decent song and when a friend sung it for her cast it was fucking amazing. But I still couldn't really get into her. Now "A Thousand Years" has been floating around (heard it for the first time on the trip to Missouri). Sung well, the lyrics are good enough, and the piano and music itself is nice. Enjoy this premature song of the day post.

Song of the Day #31

Well I listened to all of no songs today until a certain someone starting singing it on call and then I was fucked. I introduced them to this song many months ago too. The lyrics and chorus are catchy and it's just one of those pop songs I'd love to hate, but just. Can't. Do. It.

Hot Chelle Rae- "Tonight Tonight" from Whatever

Song of the Day #30

Listened to this whole album while I was showering and stuff today. Standout track till amazing to me. Lyrics are prefect for how I'm feeling on a day like this. Happy birthday dad, wish you were still here.

B.o.B- "Ghost in a Machine" from B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray

"Tell me where am I supposed to go?
And who am I supposed to believe.
If only you knew what I knew.
Then you could see just what I see.

[Chorus:]
So I grab my bags and go, as far away as I can go.
Cause everything ain't what I used to know.
And I try to hide, but I just can't hide no more.
There's nothing worse than feeling like a ghost.

You say I look fine, if only you knew what's on my mind.
You'd see a whole different sign, I couldn't show you even if I tried.
I must have got lost in time when I found out I was only free to be, where ever I want to be.

Some say I'm out of sight, how ironic and that we're all so blind.
If you could open up your eyes, you could see what I couldn't describe.
And then, you'd see the signs, and then your soul would be set free, and then you'd be released.

[Chorus:]
So I grab my bags and go, as far away as I can go.
Cause everything ain't what I used to know.
And I try to hide, but I just can't hide no more.
There's nothing worse than feeling like a ghost.

Tell me where am I supposed to go.
And who am I supposed to believe.
If only you knew what I knew.
Then you could see. (Hey)

[Chorus:]
So I grab my bags and go, as far away as I can go.
Cause everything ain't what I used to know.
And I try to hide, but I just can't hide no more.
There's nothing worse than feeling like a ghost.

And I'm terrified, like I've seen a UFO.
Cause everything ain't what I used to know.
And I try to hide, but I just can't hide no more.
There's nothing worse than feeling like a ghost.

(I go)
(A UFO)
(And I'm so tired of hiding, I've been running, I've been trying, to get away, to get away)

So I grab my bags and go, as far away as I can go.
Cause everything ain't what I used to know.
And I try to hide, but I just can't hide no more.
There's nothing worse than feeling like a ghost."

Song(s) of the Day #29

These two songs have stuck in my head since WWE Raw Monday Night. Downstait anyone? Dolph Ziggler has been on fire wrestling-wise this year. Great matches and great promos. And I've always liked The Miz, the early part of this year especially. Dolph's new theme is pretty damn awesome, and speaking of AWESOMEEEEEE, so is Miz'.

Downstait- "Here to Show the World", WWE United States Champion Dolph Ziggler's Theme

Downstait- "I Came to Play", WWE Superstar The Miz' Theme

Song of the Day #28

Didn't listen to too much music today and there was a rigorous competition in my mins between B.o.B. and Katy Perry for song of the day. But it was decided earlier when I was driving home and two different pop stations played this song within 30 second of each other. It's not even that current of a song anymore. Sung well, lyrics are good, upbeat song and the sax solo is awesome. Etc, etc. Blah blah, here's the song cause I'm sure no one reads these paragraphs.

Katy Perry- "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" from Teenage Dream

Song(s) of the Day #27

THREE SONGS?! This is unheard of. But it's true. Drove a bit today and an older song that's been stuck in my head popped on. As well as a new pop song and an old reliable rock song. Throw them all into my head and you have today's post. Kanye West and even Bruno Mars are no stranger to this blog. I've always said that 808s as a whole was an average attempt at Kanye doing something new. (Fully realized with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy) And ever since I gave Doo-Wops and Hooligians a change I've been a Bruno Mars fan. I don't have too much rock, but Muse is one of those bands everyone knows and their work is admirable.

Muse- "Starlight" from Black Holes and Revelations

Bruno Mars- "It Will Rain" from The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Pt.1:OST

Kanye West- "Heartless" from 808s and Heartbreak

Song of the Day #26

This song had me in tears missing my dad last night. No lie. A cover of this was done by Kerris Dorsey (a 13-year old actress) in the amazing movie Moneyball. (Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill) Now I can't stop listening to the original by Lenka. The music itself is catchy, it's sung mighty well, and the lyrics are perfect. I love this song.

Lenka- "The Show" from Lenka/Moneyball Original Soundtrack

"I don't know where to go I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show

The sun is hot
In the sky
Just like a giant spotlight
The people follow the sign
And synchronize in time
It's a joke
Nobody knows
They've got a ticket to that show
Yeah

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I dont know where to go I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show

Just enjoy the show

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I dont know where to go I can't do it alone I've tried
And I don't know why

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out
It's bringing me down I know
I've got to let it go
And just enjoy the show

dum de dum
dudum de dum

Just enjoy the show

dum de dum
dudum de dum

Just enjoy the show

I want my money back
I want my money back
I want my money back
Just enjoy the show

I want my money back
I want my money back
I want my money back
Just enjoy the show"

Song of the Day #25

Oh Green Day. Some of your new tracks annoy the hell out of me. *Cough* "21 Guns" *Cough* And while I've never been a huge fan of American Idiot, this is one of the hand full of songs I love from that album. Lyrics, singing, the riffs and for me the drumming especially, is great and this is a good song to still hear three times in one week (twice today) on the ole radio.

Green Day- "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" from American Idiot

"Read between the lines
What's fucked up when everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone"

"I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
When the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'til then I walk alone..."

Song of the Day #24

This has been stuck in my head since I listened to B.o.B's new mixtape E.P.I.C. [Every Play Is Crucial]. There's a lot of mixed opinions on B.o.B and hid first album (The Adventures of Bobby Ray) which I liked, but his mixtapes has always been, for me, his best work. This is no different, and sampling an older, apparently unreleased, Eminem song (at least one I personally hadn't heard before) was genius. Bobby Ray and Em also hooked up for "Airplanes Pt.2" which is the better of the two airplane songs so you know they have chemistry. Amazing beat, great rapping by B.o.B. and Eminem sounds like Relapse Eminem. (I liked Relapse, sue me.) One of them tracks to just blast.

B.o.B. feat. Eminem- "Things Get Worse" from E.P.I.C. [Every Play Is Crucial]

"There's no need to say shit you already know
The question is just how far will this go
How far will he take it?
And when will he stop?
Shady man I done told you once homie to easy up
But you just won't listen will ya, nah I guess not
You just can't can ya, man I can't stand ya
You're rotten, what you plottin' for us?
Man when are you gonna let up
I guess things are gonna get much worse 'fore they get better"

Song of the Day #23

So here it is. Not real explaination other than it's the only song I've listen to more than once today haha. Of course, yet again, it's a song involving Kanye West. It also has Jay-Z and yes it is off of Watch the Throne. "Who Gon Stop Me" is a sick song. The beat is amazing, Kanye's verses are solid and the we have Jay-Z just go off off the final verse in the song in AMAZING fashion. Just a fantastic song all around.

Kanye West & Jay-Z- "Who Gon Stop Me" from Watch the Throne

"Who gon stop me hah? Beat the odds
Beat the Feds, it wouldn’t be wise to bet against the kid
Start me broke, I bet I get rich, nightshift: six to six
Give me one shot, one pot, I’ll show up in all white, Wearin no socks
No ceiling, new coupe, they know I’m a dope boy, they don’t have no proof
I’m 3-steps-removed, I know how to move, it's looking like, I don’t know how to lose
I’m winning again, I’m at the Wynn, I’m at the table, I’m gamblin
Lucky lefty, I expect a seven, I went through hell, I’m expectin heaven
I’m owed, I throwed and I stuck to the G-code
I’m here, oh yeah, I promise I ain’t going nowhere
Okay here, like a hare, like a rabbit, I like karats
I’m allergic to havin bunny ears like broke, like nope
Like ha, I ain’t no joke, I can’t be stopped, like nope, like nope!
Extend the beat Noah, two seats in the 911, no limit on the Black Card
Told y'all I was gonna go H.A.M 'til ocean was my backyard
No lies in my verses, please pardon all the curses
Shit gotta come some way, fuck, when you're growing up worthless
Middle finger to my old life, special shoutout to my old head
If it wasn’t for your advice, a nigga would have been so dead
I'm living life til these niggas kill me, turn this up if these niggas feel me
I’m riding dirty, tryna get filthy, Pablo Picasso, Rothkos, Rilkes
Graduated to the MoMA, and I did all of this without a diploma
Graduated from the corner, y'all can play me for a muthafuckin fool if you wanna
Street-smart and I’m book smart coulda been a chemist cause I cook smart
Only thing that can stop me is me and I’mma stop when the hook start, hold up"

Song of the Day #22

Didn't really listen to too much music today, but watching Raw, CM Punk's theme got in my head. Love this track (and his previous theme Killswitch Engage's "This Fire Burns.") Kudos out to Living Colour for this mighty fine track.

Living Colour- "Cult of Personality" (WWE Champion CM Punk's Theme Song) from Vivid

"I sell the things you need to be
I'm the smiling face on your TV
I'm the cult of personality
I exploit you, still you love me
I told you one and one makes three
I'm the cult of personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi
I'm the cult of personality
The cult of personality
The cult of personality"

Song(s) of the Day #21

These songs are pretty easy to explain. The past two days I've been plowing through seasons 3 and 4 of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Enjoys.
