Halloween Movie Month [28 Days Later]

Ahhh Danny Boyle, you made such movies as Sunshine, Trainspotting, and 127 Hours. But when he released this zombie horror flick, let's just say, it's not his...MO. 28 Days Later follows the story of Jim. A bicycle courier who wakes up in a hospital after being hit by a car. While in the hospital though, a group of animal liberators trying to save monkeys in a lab let loose the infection that would spawn the zombie apocalypse. Now Jim and three others must live and survive the now wasteland that is England. If I had to rank this it would be my 5th favorite zombie film. It's that good. It helps when you have a Danny Boyle though a pretty good director. The shots of desolate and empty England are amazing and shots of the countryside as well is just beautiful. His version of the zombies are more modern (as with Zack Snyder's in his Dawn of the Dead, remake). So that means fast, quick, zombies due to the "rage" compared to the George A. Romero ones from the early days that are slow and not as mobile. The acting in this is quite amazing, and you really can get in and identify with the characters. The scares are there, but at times it seems more like a thriller. The kills are mostly gun shots, but the house scene near the beginning is mighty brutal and bloody. All in all this is a great flick, the acting, story, cinematography and music are all great. This movie, I'd say, is definitely worth your time.
