Halloween Movie Month [Poltergeist]

Ahhh poltergeist's, the manifestation of ghosts and spirits that mess with real life things. Ahhh Poltergeist the horror film produced by Frank Marshall and Stephen Spielberg. This follows the story of the Freeling family.  Steven is a realtor and Diane is a stay at home mom who takes care of their children Diana, Robbie, and Carol Anne. They live in a growing suburban area that Steven's company is building up. One night after the TV station signs off, Carole Ann starts talking with the static. From there strange things start happening in the house and Carole Anne get's sucked into the seemly abyss. Now this becomes a fight with ghosts and manifestations to find Carole Anne and get her back safe and sound! This isn't a bad movie per say, but I don't think it's a great as everyone makes it out to be. Sure the scene where everything goes down and the plot really starts is kinda freaky, and even parts where ghosts manifest are creepy looking. The music is oddly good in this and sets the mood well. The acting is also a bit above par for a horror film. Always liked Craig T. Nelson and he was probably my favorite part in this. The plot is good and also there's humor in this which makes me like it a bit more. The problem that I have is this movie is over hyped, and it's not as "scary" (to me) as people make it out to be. That being said, to me this is still a solid watch. Not one I'd go back to anytime soon, but a good watch none the less. Try it. Maybe you'll be sliding across you're own kitchen floor someday.
