Halloween Movie Month 2 [Halloween II]

It's baaaaaaaaaack! This is the second annual (now) edition of Halloween movie month! It's appropriate that this is year two cause I'm doing a lot of sequels and follows to movies from last year. Last year I decided to take every day in October and review a different horror or horror/thriller movie. Here's a link to my Top 5/List of Movies, click here, if you're interested. I got a good response from people during the month so I've decided to bring it back this year! Now last year, most of the reviews we're a paragraph or so and pretty short. This year, while I'n not going to do full-on reviews  I'll go into a little more detail and try to make a more enjoyable read.

----------

The Halloween franchise is one of the most iconic in horror history. From actors and scares to the eerie music, you'll get it all, especially in the early goings of the series. It's spawned movies and scares for veterans and young people alike over the past four decades. The reaction and fan-base John Carpenter began is truly one of the best, if not the best in horror-history.

We open Halloween II right after the events of Halloween occur. Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) is sent to the hospital after she is attacked by Michael Myers (Dick Warlock). The manhunt in on in the city at this point, as the bodies of the teenagers Myers killed in the previous movies are found as Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) leads the police force. A boy is hit by a police car, and while the police think it's Michael, something much worse is about to happen on this long Halloween night. Myers is terrorizing the hospital and it's workers that Laurie is at and trying to find her. What really happened in Michael Myers life and why is he targeting this sleepy town and will Laurie and the rest of the city survive this Halloween?

I really like this movie. It's got all the lore and scares that the first one has, while filling in some of the story-line questions posed by the first movie. Especially the big one, going into more depth on what spurred Myers to go on this murderous rampage. I don't think there's much acting to talk about haha. Jamie Lee is back and reprises her role well. Meyers is played in such a stoic way you can't help but be intrigued. And Donald's portrayal of Loomis is easily the best talker and deliverer in the movie. The kills are very good as well, knives to the throat, drowning a naked woman in scalding water, stabbing a woman in the back and lifting her in the air one armed. I really liked the creativity. The music is still the iconic score we've come to know and it really just feel appropriate throughout.

The reason I like this is quite simple though. Halloween II picks up exactly where Halloween left off and ran with it. The story is progressed well, the lore is increased and the kills and scares still remain. I'm glad I started off the month with this movie. If you need a scary pair of movies to watch this month, starting off with  the Halloween series would be a grand idea.
