Thoughts On All My TV Shows So Far This Season

I guess we'll go by days of the week. Cause that's the way I think, and usually watch, my shows. At the end I'll be doing three sentences of some shows I'm not able to watch and will catch up on over the summer. No WWE shows, if you wanna know what I think of them I do a review of RAW/SD!/NXT do some digging in my blog.

-------------------------

Mondays-
House:
This season has been different as it's focused more on House getting out of rehab, and House's relationships with Cuddy and Wilson more so than any other season to date. Cuddy/Wilson have each even had their own episodes dedicated to them as well. I liked them because it generally brought me into knowing the character more. And that what you need in a long running show, new ways to keep people wanting to know what's going to happen next and if the characters change and whatnot. I think the cases have been alright. Not as good as in past season, but I feel we're getting to the point in the season where something big is gonna happen to last till the close of the season. Like when Foreman got sick back in season 3 or w/e. My favorite episode, so far would have to be the one with the psychopathic lady that tried to screw with 13's job. Partly cause I'm going into psychology, and partly cause it was just a good episode in general. The others good ones for me have been the one where House/Wilson went to the convention and House presented Wilson's paper as if her were Wilson. And the episodes where House hired Foreman's brother as an aide were good as well. Anywho good season, as if House has had a bad one yet, and it's looks to be another strong year for the sarcastic, doesn't care about you doctor.

24:
We all know the story, CTU is dead, President Taylor brought it back, Jack tries to help an old op friend get to CTU about and assassination plot of the leader of a middle-eastern country who wants peace with the US and it turns into a cluster-f***. The the Russians sell Nuclear rods to said middle-easterners and they threaten to blow up NYC. AND Jack is pulled back into say the day cause Renee killed a key agent undercover and Jack wants to protect her.I like the new CTU people and the way Chloe is starting to get along with them. The pervy guy who works tech is good for a nice laugh at least once and episode. Hastings the new CTU director is played well, and is starting to really take and run with CTU. The big story coming out of there though is the relationship between CTU's head Data Analyst, Dana Walsh, and her fiance the head of the CTU ops team, Cole Otiz. We start out thinking she's got control of her life and takes no s***, but a man from her old life comes back and threatens to reveal her past and blackmails her into helping him and his partner breaker into a police evidence storage place to steal $120k. The plan goes haywire, but they make it out with the money, Dana is compromised and the guy wants to do this again and Dana feels she has to kill him/his partner. Cole catches her as she's about to do it and all hell breaks loose as both men are killed and Cole/Dana have to water bury the bodies in the swamp and clean out a van. Oh yeah, there a bland sub-plot with the leader of the middle eastern country which I won't go into. Already plenty of action, suspense and drama. All you'd expect from what looks to be the last season of 24. Best kill so far you ask? Jack using the axe to hit a dude down a stairwell/hit a guy in the chest. OR Renee killing the Russian leader with a knife to the eye and stabbing him like 16 times. Good season so far, good stuff.

Tuesday-
Lost:
I'm not going to say much cause I have the latest three episodes waiting on my DVR. But I like the storyline where back in 2004 their all living their lives as if the plane never crashed, all the while their also living out their lives stuck on the island. That's all I have to say for now. I'll edit in more thoughts when I'm caught up.

Parenthood:
I debuted Tuesday and I was pleasantly surprised. It chronicles the life of essentially four families. One woman, divorced with two kids. A couple who are together and the woman wants a baby. A couple where they both do pretty well for themselves and have a kid. And finally an older couple who've been together through it all. Oh yeah did I mention all the families are related? They are, and it adds to the humor, sadness, joy and shock I've already seen in the premiere. Craig T. Nelson and Lauren Graham are the standout performers for me, and Dax Shepard is defiantly the funnest guy on the show.

SouthLAnd:
Now this is the best police drama on TV ever. It's only like 10 episodes in ,counting the season two premiere Tuesday and I already feel like I know and connect with all the main characters. 10 EPISODES IN! It got moved to TNT cause they wanted to go further with the show and NBC couldn't really go as far as they did in season one. Haha. So now the only word bleeped out is the f-bomb, the cases will most likely end up gritter, and the streets of LA have never been put to such a good use on TV. Sorry NCIS:LA, you maybe be the #1 New Show, but you suck. This is one of those, now cable, dark-horse shows you should be watching. Much like Burn Notice. They play the episodes like 3-4 times a week too, so there's really no excuse for you missing it.

Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday-
American Idol:
It hasn't been a great season, I must say. all the performances so far of the top 24 have been lacking. Sure I have my favorites, which are now Big Mike, Casey, Lily, Dede, and Krystal. But the rest are just meh, sure that quirky girl, who hit that amazing note last night I'm still marveling about. But other than that she, or anyone else is really jumping out at me. The judging has been good Randy is dogging it up and gave his first standing ovation of the season. Kara is still annoying as all hell and I don't like her on the panel. Simon is Simon and over the last three year I've started to lean towards what he says, and think the way he thinks. So when I listen to the contestants, I hear what he's hearing most of the time. Ellen has brought real comedy to the panel for really the first time and I like her. I feel she doesn't know everything about the technical stuff, but she's usually been spot on when a performance is great and gives good criticism is the performance is bad. So good job so far Ellen. And I think once thing start picking up AI will get better. I also don't think any of the eliminations so far have been wrong and America has been getting better over the years at picking the good ones.

Wednesday-
Gary Unmarried:
Probably the most underrated, unwatched, best comedy ever. Jay Mohr is freaking hilarious juggling and ex-wife, two kids, radio job, relationship with his boss, and his producer who's usually giving him off advice. The verbal spats Gary and Allison get in make what could be slow parts in the scene/show, funny and brings together then as perfectly cast to play opposites. It's funny, it's newer, and since Wednesday night is slim on shows, it's a great watch. The best episode this season has got to be the Thanksgiving episode, in my book. Mostly due to Gary's bother and dad. I hope this get's picked up for a third season once this one ends.

Thursday-
Community:
As I've said since it premiered last fall, it's the best new comedy of the 2009-2010 season. Not just cause Jeff is played superbly by Joel McHale, and Abed is one of the most original comedy characters in awhile, OR the fact Chevy plays the best old man ever. The show has heart, it has great laughs. The episode where they make Greendale's mascot, to be non-stereotypical to any race on the planet and it turns out like some freak science experimental had me rolling on the floor laughing. And every time they have it escort the dance or had out Valentines, it's so creepy it's hard not to bust out laughing at the thing. Also Jeff and Brita's relationship is one of the best thing the show has going. Jeff likes Brita. Brita never liked Jeff. Brita went out with Mr Tiny Nipples, which made Jeff jealous. They break up and now Jeff is a with a teacher. YET they both are so believable as friends at this point the show could exist with them being a couple or not. Anywho aside from the Brita/Jeff angle everything else is epic on the show. And with so many classes and activities available at college, this show has endless possibilities. Also I wish I had a Spanish teacher like Ken Jeong, he is the bomb! Yes I just used that phrase, what the show.

Parks and Recreation:
This was my pick for best new comedy spring of last year when it debuted, and it is also Amy Pohler's first sitcom role as Leslie Knope. Lead no less, and I think all her years on SNL helped her be one of the best comedy women on the plant. A show about the parks department in a small town, how is that gonna be funny? Hell yes. From the young secretary with a boyfriend who has a boyfriend, to the Tom Seleck like supervisor who is more laid back than you think, to Jerry, who usually never does anything yet is yelled at whenever something goes wrong. There's alos the grounded couple (much like Jim/Pam on the office) that usually provide the voice of reason, but are ignored. Now we get to Tom Havaferd, played by Aziz Ansari, Leslie's assistant, who is also married a woman so she could get her green card, loves anything and everything high class, and most of the time does stupid s*** and jumps around and makes me laugh my a** off. The season has been solid so far too, and every episode is very comedy heavy while keeping the characters relate-able. I'd say the best had to be after Tom and his wife break up and it moving day, OR the Halloween episode with the party at Ann's house. Also when Andy sees Ann and dives into the pit, puree epicness. Anywho, good show, good season, worth your time.

The Office:
You all know my thoughts on The Office and with it in it's sixth season you should know all the characters by now too, so I'll just get onto my thoughts for the season. I think it's been a very good season. Season two is easily their best one, then season five. I think season six is on par with season five just for the two hour-long specials we've had. The Office Wedding, and The Office Baby which aired last night. It's funny as usual with Michael leading the office in his own style, the co-manager stint in the beginning of the season had some good moments, and the other big story for this season is Dunder Mifflin being bought out by a printer company, Sabre. Good season, Dwight is getting a baby and is freaky-awesome as usual, and great story-lines and episodes make this a great show to keep on watching.

Burn Notice:
It had it's season finale last night, so now I have to wait till the fall, or whenever they erratically air Burn Notice on USA. The only spy show, that I know of on TV, and even with the hilarious SNL skit on it I love Michael Weston. There's always nifty spy tips throughout each show that keep me updated on what he's doing. They don't just show the person doing the act, they explain how and why they do the act too and that's one of the reason I love the show. Jeffrey Donovan has always been great in his role as Michael, but in the last 5 episodes with Gilroy/Simon we see a more, do anything Micheal than we've seen in the previous seasons. I really liked "lone wolf" Micheal, too bad I don't think we'll see much of him anymore. Also Bruce Campbell had a bit of a non-fun loving streak at the end of the season too which I liked, but I still think they need to write him, or let him improvise, wittier dialogue in some of the scenes where his facial expressions aren't enough. Anywho good season, great finale, and where did Micheal get taken after no killing Simon? I wanna freaking know!

Friday-
The Soup:
This is the only show I'll ever watch on E! Joel McHale host a clips show of all the big shows that air during the week. From local news, to morning talks, reality shows, and prime time shows. He takes the best clips, lets us watch them and then has a one-liner about it afterward. When he's on with good clips and good jokes then the show. Any fat jokes about The Biggest Loser or More to Love and Regis Philbin/Larry King old jokes always kill. But every once in awhile there's a bad run of jokes and it's shame, I still watch and I still love the show. Great stuff, watch through the bad and the good is epic.

Saturday-
SNL:
It's no shock SNL hasn't been great the last three-ish year. But a show that's been running as long as SNL has is bound to have bad patches of shows. But I think there's at least 30 minutes of good comedy in each show. Mostly due to Andy Samberg with Digital Shorts. Kennan Thompson with What's Up With That?, Lorenzo McIntosh, and Jean K Jean. Fred Armestad with his always spot on impression of Barack Obama. And finally Seth Myers with Weekend Update each week. Sure most of the time the host and band fails, I.E. Taylor Lautner and Bon Jovi, but there are hosts/artists that are good whenever they come on or is their first time. John Hamm, Taylor Swift, Charles Barkley, James Franco, and Joseph Gordon Levitt were all great SNL's to watch. Them Crooked Crows, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga (Best SNL performer in the last three years), and Ting Tings all had good performances. And I gotta admit last week J-Lo wasn't completely horrible. When I say watch I say take it with a grain of salt and not expect everything to be funny.

Sunday-
The Cleveland Show:
Seth McFarlane's third show on FOXs Sunday line up. I personally love it. I can see why a lot of people think it's forced and too corny. I can look past that and enjoy Cleveland in his own role. I would've much rather had Quagmire get is own show over Cleveland, but I don't see the Peter/Joe/Quag team on Family Guy breaking up. Anywho, there's a lot of stereotyping in the show, and Cleveland even busts out a random battle rap complete with a background music video in one of his episodes. Another high point is Cleveland Jr. and Rollo. I don't know when Jr. got so fat, but I think it helps with the comedy. A fat kid in high school who still plays with his stuffed animals and loves his dad way more than any kid should, great. And "Balls Out" is of of Seth's greatest musical numbers in his shows. Rollo is basically a black Stewie and the episode where he get's his fish from the fair is a riot. I like the show, and I think if more people gave it a chance they'd like it. "I gurrantee it."

Family Guy:
First off I'd like to point out, as if you didn't notice, that season 5-7 were for the most part meh to bad. Well I'd like to now point out that season 8 has gone back to the Family Guy of old. Funny cut outs, good stories, actual plot-lines in the episodes, and even continuity between the new episodes and episodes from the past. They started out with an epic dimension traveling episode to kick-off the season, later on Peter sees Road House for the first time and goes around kicking everything yelling "Road House," then over the Christmas break we had Something, Something, Something Darkside hit dvd, and lately we've had House treating Mr. Pewdersmit, the evil Monkey turning out to be not so bad of a dude, and Meg going to prison. Stewie is less-gay and more evil baby again, and they even just did one of the best Family Guy songs ever about Chris liking a down syndrome girl. Good job Seth, you've rekindled my love for Family Guy with a great season that's rolling along.

Shows I'll Catch Up on Over the Summer:
Monday-
Big Bang Theory:
I love the show and have the first two seasons on DVD. I got booted cause it got moved to 8:30, when 24 and RAW are on so I can't catch it. Anywho I've seen the first 5ish episodes and they were good, can't wait to see the season in full.

CSI: Miami:
Great show been a staple of mine for the last 6 years. I'm watching RAW at the time as well and I usually forget to watch the DVR of it, haha. Anywho I've seen that the cast has been over hauled and the episodes I have seen a have been alright.

Thursday-
CSI:
One of my favorite shows of the past decade and I could follow it more last season. The cast got a small overhaul and I like the new guys stepping up. Good cases, and acting, as always so I'm looking forward to catching up over the summer.

Sunday-
Aqua Teen Hunger Force:
Probably my favorite Adult Swim show ever and it started it's new season. The problem is I always forget it's on Sunday nights at 11:45 here, haha. Caught the season premiere and loved it, can't wait to catch up on my favorite bunch of talking food.

How to Make it in America:
The series just premiered and I've only seen the first episode, cause we don't have HBO and I have to download them. I liked it, it's got iffy acting and a good storyline on how anyone can do just about anything in this great city of ours. Did I mention the theme song is the best song I've heard in 2010, gotta catch up with this show.

True Blood:
Yeah I love the vampire show, and I'm in the HBO part of the vampire craze full force. Season one and two hooked me in so much and I wanna know what happens in the town of Bon Temps and what happens to the people like Sookie, Bill, Tara, Sam, and Lafayette. Dammit summer get here already!
